Our Story

Andre (Dre) and I have been partners for nearly seven years. During that time we’ve moved through several homes and businesses as we worked toward full retirement. We began to imagine where we might live and what kind of life we wanted after the grind was over. With more than 30 years as an electrician, Dre was certain a warmer climate was a must.

Through family and friend connections we discovered Santa Marta, Colombia. Warm weather, kind people, and a cost of living that made sense made Santa Marta an easy choice. Naturally, we began to think about what we always wanted to do in the second chapter of our lives—because you can only walk on the beach so long before you want something meaningful to fill your days.

Dre is an excellent cook and liked the idea of a little beach shack where we could sell simple, delicious food. I’ve always had a deep desire to make sure those around me have a great meal and a good time. Building something special where both of our desires could come true became our focus, and with that the Fresh Market & Eatery idea was born.
